Jennifer Garner, born April 17th, 1972 in Houston, Texas, was raised within Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner is her father. He was a chemical engineer for Union Carbide. Patricia Ann was a teacher at the local college. The father of her was an engineer in the chemical industry so she wanted to be similar to him. Then she moved in New York in order to pursue her dream of becoming an actor. She was employed at a restaurant and was a part of Broadway productions. She had a cameo role in the television series "Felicity." (It is on that show that she met her first husband Scott Foley.) Garner got her first big role on the screen in "13 Going on 30" which was a romantic comedy well-received. She played a teenage woman trapped in the adult body. Garner chose Gary Winick, who directed the film. She and Winick worked together to find other projects after his passing. Garner was appointed artist ambassador in 2011 by Save the Children U.S.A. The role entails encouraging nutrition and literacy across America, as well as early schooling. Garner was elected to the board of directors of this non-profit organisation in 2014. Garner advocates for early developmental stages of children. As a spokesperson, she travels often with the families who belong to Early Steps to School Success the program which trains parents on ways to support young children to learn.
